Welcome to Beaverdell
Experience this unique town, filled with history and outdoor adventure. Beaverdell is best known for its hiking and biking trails along the Trans Canada Trail. Unplug and rejuvenate as you camp along the Kettle River. There are year-round outdoor activities you can enjoy here and within the Boundary Country.
You can get supplies at the Beaverdell General Store on Hwy 33, open seven days a week. Stay the night in a cabin or bring your tent and camp. In the summer months, you can get information on where to go and what to do at the Beaverdell Community Centre on Hwy 33 and 1st Avenue.
History of Beaverdell
Beaverdell was originally called Beaverton. The post offices of Beaverton and Rendell were amalgamated, and the name was changed to Beaverdell. There are several charming buildings in town, including the General Store and the Ice Cream Parlour. The Beaverdell Hotel, Canada’s longest continuously operating hotel, burned to the ground in 2011.
Silver was discovered here in 1897 and was mined right up until 1987. Have a chat with one of the 350 residents who make this town their home. They have some interesting stories and information to share.
Getting Here
You’ll find this cozy town 51 km (31 mi) north of Rock Creek and 78 km (51 mi) from Kelowna on Hwy. 33.
Explore the Trans Canada Trail
The Trans Canada Trail follows the Kettle Valley Rail Trail from the north at McCulloch downhill to Carmi and Beaverdell along the West Kettle River.
Biking enthusiasts love the easy access to the Trans Canada Trail that connects Beaverdell to the Okanagan and Kootenay Regions. The trail is near the main street and provides endless hours of cycling enjoyment.
Outdoor Adventure
One thing you’ll find plenty of in the Beaverdell area is outdoor fun. Go on a fish tour, catch your dinner, or climb mountains and take in fantastic views. In the winter, brace yourself for hours and hours of snow fun.
Trapping Creek Discovery Tour
Enjoy a self-guided tour where you can be a witness to the restoration of this rainbow trout habitat. There are three trails to tour from June – October. You should allow yourself at least one hour to tour all three trails. See page 10 of this guide for more information.
Fishing around Beaverdell
Catch it and cook it! Create a feast with freshly caught trout from one of the 16 small fishing lakes that surround Beaverdell. Pack up the four-wheel drive and camp out along the banks of the Kettle River or at one of our Forest Service Recreation Site campgrounds.
Hiking
Get out and explore the wilderness and natural wonders of Boundary Country in Beaverdell. Roam along the riverside, or scale the heights to Goats Peak Viewpoint, elevation 1585 m (5200 ft.) located east of Wallace Mountain Road. Or head up to The Bell, where you’ll find a 360° view overlooking the valley and Wallace Mountain.
Winter Recreation
Pristine mountains and champagne powder make this area perfect for snowmobiling, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. You can drive up to Big White Ski Resort, located 70 km (44 mi) north of Beaverdell, for a day of downhill skiing and snowboarding.
When it’s time to come in from the cold, warm up in the village of Big White or head back to Beaverdell for a hot cup of cocoa.
Campgrounds and Cabins
You deserve to relax, and this is one of the best places to do that. Consider these campgrounds and cabins your home away from home when you visit Beaverdell.
Highland Cabins of Beaverdell
Unplug and relax at the Highland Cabins of Beaverdell. You’ll be next to Hwy. 33 and only two blocks from the Kettle Valley Rail Trail access point. All cabins are comfy with linens, cookware and an outdoor gas barbeque.
Each of the five cabins has a story to tell. They go back to 1950s when the mines were still operating in the area. As mining slowed down, someone with a vision of days to come brought the cabins to where they are today.

The Beaverdell RV Park & Campground
This is more than your average campground. The Beaverdell RV Park has places to camp, RV rentals, RV storage with security, and RV winterizing. When you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind, or a place to call home base as you head out on your adventure, this is a great choice.
The Park is located steps away from downtown restaurants and landmarks, and the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR). Enjoy your days hiking, biking, hunting and fishing. The vast outdoors is yours to explore.

The Last Resort
You might fall in love with these three quaint cabins at The Last Resort near the KVR trail. Choose from: Serenity, a 1903 miners cabin with a queen-sized bed; Balance, with two twin beds and a coffee maker; or Gratitude which also has a queen-sized bed and a coffee maker. All cabins share the bathhouse and a fully equipped kitchen. All linens are supplied.
