Our area has a varied landscape, and should you decide to explore it all, you’ll need to pack accordingly.  Dressing in layers is the best way to go. The higher you explore, the cooler it gets. Bring your binoculars too. Boundary Country is noted for its beautiful and varied birds.

Contact our Visitor Centres for information on heritage sites, cultural centres, art exhibits and events happening during your stay. Once you’re here, drop in, say hi, and grab a map to guide you on your rural, urban and backcountry adventures.

Our Parks

The parks in our area range from cozy community parks to wild and rugged provincial parks. Make sure you bring your hiking shoes and/or your bike. The number of trails you can explore in Boundary Country is almost as boundless.  Trails range from a gentle walk in the park to following in the footstep of Big Horn sheep. Enjoy the scenery as you hike the historic Trans Canada Trail, the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, and portions of the Dewdney Trail.

Our Lakes

Pack the tackle box and the fishing box! Fish are abundant here. You can rent kayaks and canoes here and paddle Conkle or Jewel Lake’s quiet wilderness. Rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, burbot and whitefish abound in our lakes and rivers.

Be Ready for Anything!

There is so much to do here, it’s best to be ready for anything. Pack your hat and sunscreen and your water shoes so that you can gold pan in the Kettle River. Don’t forget cowboy boots or good outdoor shoes. You don’t want to miss out on riding a trusty steed on a cattle drive. Comfortable walking shoes are a necessity. Our history is easy to discover on self-guided walking tours. Also, be sure to pack a pair of comfy pants/shorts. The food here is fresh, fabulous and perhaps a little fattening. Not to worry, though, you’ll burn those extra calories off as you dance the night away at one of our music events! Check out our events calendar for a complete roster of summertime celebrations.
