Boundary Economic Development Committee (BEDC)
The Boundary Economic Development Committee (BEDC) was formed by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary. It assists the Boundary Region in finding grassroots solutions to their common economic problems.
In this role as leader and facilitator of effective community economic development, the BEDC strives to be proactive and strategic. They promote change and long term sustainability. The strive for increased community involvement, capacity and empowerment in all local initiatives.
The Boundary Country tourism brand is owned by the Regional District Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) and is administered through the Boundary Country Development Committee (BEDC). Participants are comprised of Area C, D, E, City of Grand Forks, Village of Midway, City of Greenwood. The RDKB contracts tourism management services to Symphony Tourism Services (STS), a subsidiary of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA). Tourism partnerships include projects on behalf of Boundary Country by Big White, with additional funding through Destination BC and the Municipal Regional District Tax. These funds are leveraged to create projects that enhance the promotion of Boundary Country as a visitor destination. The management model includes a local stakeholder liaison to connect directly with operators and support project planning and implementation.
