Good to know before you go

  • Check avalanche reports before you head up any mountain.
  • Marshall Lake Nordic Trails and the warming Dacha are both dog-friendly
  • Fresh-water fishing is regulated in BC and fishing licenses are required (even in winter)
  • Many of the most beautiful trails run through sensitive eco systems. Please stay on marked trails to avoid damaging the environment and pack out what you pack in
  • This area is prone to rapid changes in the weather, pack and dress accordingly
  • Learn the ice thickness in areas you plan to visit. Anything less than 2” is unsafe, while you need 4” for ice fishing and 5” for snowmobiles

Bomb the black diamond, chill out on the bunny slopes, jib and jam at the terrain park, get stoked riding and sliding winter’s white blanket in Boundary Country. There are three ski hills in Boundary Country, each with a winter wonderland for you to conquer! Boundary is perfect for all your ski and snowboard desires.

Winter at Big White

Big White is a world-class family ski resort. You’ll love the champagne powder and all the activities there. It is known as one of the best ski hills in Canada for people who don’t ski. The terrain here ranges from beginner easy to expert alpine. Big White has 188 designated trails: 18% beginner, 54% intermediate, 22% expert and 6% extreme. The longest run is 7.2 km (4.5 mi).

Big White offers alpine skiing, night skiing, a terrain park, snowboarding, snowshoeing and Nordic. They get over 7.5 m (24.5 ft) of champagne powder annually. Other activities at Big White include dog sled tours, ice climbing, ice skating, tubing and sleigh rides. They also have dining tours, snowmobile tours, snow limo tours and snowshoe tours! See our Big White Winter page for more winter fun.

Phoenix Mountain Community Ski Resort

Come to Phoenix Mountain and teach yourself or your children how to ski or snowboard without all the hubbub. Shush your way down wide-open runs, or tuck into shady glades. Phoenix Mountain community ski resort lies midway between Greenwood and Grand Forks. It is family-friendly and affordable skiing at its best. A T-bar or towrope delivers you to 19 blue, black or green runs providing various terrain for a day on the slopes. Ski them all, or swap out your skis for your board, and take on the terrain park for some freestylin’ fun.

Ski & Snowboard Baldy Mountain

Mt. Baldy is located between Rock Creek and Oliver in the western-most reaches of Boundary Country. Annual snowfall over seven metres (20 ft) means you can count on consistent conditions when you’re skiing or riding.

Baldy Mountain Resort boasts a ratio of .2 skiers per acre of terrain. The small amount of traffic per person, per acre, means the snow rarely gets worn out. Beginners can start at the Carpet, and once they gain experience, can graduate to the Sugarlump (quad) chair lift for novice and intermediate terrain. The Eagle chair lift takes you to the very top trails. There’s a green trail at the top for those who want a longer run.
