Take a Walking Tour of our Murals
Grand Forks is a hub of Boundary Country’s arts scene. When wandering through downtown Grand Forks you’re sure to notice the abundance of murals that decorate the building walls. A Victoria artist known simply as ‘Archer’ has made numerous businesses his canvas and brought the town’s spirit to life. The murals encompass a number of themes, some representing the city’s heritage or the businesses they decorate, and some which simply try to jog the imagination. Hop in the frame and snap some Instagram worthy shots.
Studio Tours and Arts Festivals
Enter the world of an artist and watch masters work their craft. Discuss what inspires them and you. Watch as weavers transform wool into cozy and warm creations. Put in a custom order for handcrafted furniture. Marvel, as a master carver works a cedar stump, revealing an eagle about to take flight. Follow the artisan studio signs dotting our roads from one end of Boundary Country to the other. Since you’re here, you might as well come in and meet the artists of our arts scene as they work at their craft.
Find your favourite new piece of art at studios and in shops where you can purchase original art and fine crafts.
Gallery 2 — Grand Forks
Step inside Gallery 2 – the Grand Forks Art Gallery is Boundary Country’s public art gallery. Since 1984 the gallery has been a centre for contemporary visual arts and culture programming for locals and visitors alike. Gallery 2 is housed in the heritage 1911 courthouse building located right on highway 3 at the west end of downtown Grand Forks.
On the main floor, the Gift Shop showcases a carefully curated collection of regional crafts, the Art Rental gallery features a sample of local artworks available to rent, and the Central Gallery anchors our exhibition program.
Upstairs, the Reid Gallery presents new work by a range of renowned artists; the Fogg Gallery is dedicated to the Grand Forks Art Gallery Society’s permanent collection. We aim to present exhibits that place Grand Forks and the Boundary Region in the larger contemporary cultural context.
